Get involved in the Marine Spatial Planning process.

Public involvement is fundamental to creating a marine spatial plan for Washington. We want your input! Ocean users and coastal residents have many opportunities to be involved in the planning process. Some of these opportunities include stakeholder workshops, interviews, surveys, participation in public workshops, meetings, discussions, and the ability to provide comments every step of the way.

The Department of Ecology hosted a public comment period regarding elements to be covered in a marine spatial plan (July 16- September 23, 2013). The public comment document and scoping information are available here. Once complete, Ecology will submit the marine spatial plan to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) for review and apporval. NOAA will authorize including the plan as part of Washington’s federally-approved coastal zone management program (CZMP).
